Elokobi would love to reward Maidstone fans with a trip to Wembley.

The Stones go to National League rivals Eastleigh this Saturday (3pm) looking for a place in the FA Trophy Quarter-Finals.

Supporters have continued to turn out in numbers all over the country, despite the team’s National League struggles. The Trophy has provided some respite from United’s relegation battle - they’re eight points from safety at the bottom of the league and Elokobi continues to be amazed by the backing the team receive.

“The fans have never left us,” he said. “This is their club and we represent them.

“They know we are trying. They know the players are giving it their all.”

Travelling fans at Yeovil sang Elokobi’s name.

It was appreciated by the caretaker boss, who also enjoyed the chance to mingle with supporters at Fleet services en route to Huish Park.

“It’s good to hear that song but that song is not just for me, it’s for all the backroom staff and the boys,” said Elokobi.

“We’ve got a very good bunch that come in every single day and work their absolute socks off to try and change our fortunes.

“That song says the fans are with me, the fans are with us. “We’re all in it together and it shows.

“It was good to bump into the fans at the services.

“It was nice to have a chat with them and shake everyone’s hands. It’s important to say thank you and to say we are together when we travel to these places. “We come here to try and defend the badge of Maidstone United Football Club.

“The fans are very special because they support the team through thick and thin.

“It doesn’t matter where the game is, they come out in their numbers. To see that is incredible.”
