Harriers’ Worsley in a hurry
Ryan Worsley was this year’s half-marathon winner at the Heart of Kent Hospice Maidstone Road Run.
Worsley, representing Maidstone Harriers, completed the 13.1-mile race around Linton, Boughton Monchelsea and the sorrounding villages in 1hr28min12sec.
Adrian Perkins was second, clocking 1:28.44, with Bexleyheath AC’s Martin Jenner third in 1:29.03 as 83 athletes completed the course. Runners were out in force with charity in mind, too, and £16,000 was raised.
Sarah Balderson won the ladies’ half, finishing 22nd overall, in 1:47.02. Felicia Crossley was excactly five minutes adrift in 1:52.02 and Katie Walsh was third in 1:54.02.
The 10k race, with 170 finishers, proved the most popular with victory for Tonbridge AC’s Jacek Traczynski (37.24). Iulian Ciobota (38.29) and Vic Weinberg (38.33) led the chase. Claire Lowe (45.56), Katie Henry (46.33) and Anne Crawford (47.29) were the topthree women.
There were 115 finishers at the 5k, with Connor Barker setting the pace in 20.50. Phil Satchell was best of the rest in 21.31 with Maidstone Harriers’ James Knight completing the top three in 21.51.
Philippa Golding’s 23.10 was good enough to win the ladies’ 5k by almost two minutes. Alison Lovekin (25.09) and Jenna Lampers (25.57) took second and third.
After completing their runs everyone received a medal and certificate.
The head of community partnership at Heart of Kent Hospice, Sarah Bowes, said. “We were so pleased with the number of runners who took part this year which helped us to reach our target of an amazing £16,000 for Heart of Kent Hospice.
“A big thank-you to all the runners who took part and to all the volunteers who generously gave their time to help with car parking,
registrations, warm-ups, marshalling, handing out medals and photography.”
