CLUB’S FIRST KENT YOUTH LEAGUE TITLE WON IN INVINCIBLE FASHION

- KINGS HILL

Talented young footballers from Kings Hill under-15s have gone unbeaten throughout the season to secure a league title. Hill ensured they went the entire campaign without defeat - conceding three goals in their league fixtures - as they beat Ramsgate 2-0 in their final match this term last Sunday to become Kent Youth League East Division champions.

Astyn Taylor and Dario Arsovski got their goals either side of the half-time interval. “Obviously, Kings Hill Football Club has only been going since 2003,” said under-15s team manager Duncan Kirk.

“It’s now become very established, with more than 50 junior teams and some senior teams. This is the first time we’ve won a Kent League title as a youth team.

“All the boys are local from the Maidstone and West Malling areas.

“They’re a close-knit group and they’ve done really well this year.”

The only blemish on their nearperfect record was a 1-1 draw at Hollands & Blair in midFebruary.

And Kirk, who came back from a work trip in New York on Thursday ahead of the match against Ramsgate, hopes to see some of his troops enjoy successful footballing careers.

He said: “You’re playing against senior non-league teams, like Ramsgate, Dover and Margate and those types of teams.

“As they go into under-16s, they’ll start to look at senior football.

“It’s the first time that a Kings Hill youth team has stuck together despite the lure of the Maidstones and the Tonbridges, which all have these Academy places for these

types of boys. So that’s quite a coup for us.

“We’re, obviously, very proud of them. There’s some good players in there that’ll probably go on and play certainly - I think - in the higher standards in non-league if they carry on playing.”

They twice won by six-goal margins in the league season. They beat Tunbridge Wells 7-1 in October and Rochester City 6-0 away in late January.
