Christ­mas din­ner sta­ples in­clude turkey, sprouts and pigs in blan­kets. But how many dif­fer­ent types of pigs in blan­kets do you like, know, or have even tried? Now you can head to Mar­gate to find out as the sea­side restau­rant Cinque Ports has launched its Sausage Party.

New chef Jim Thom­lin­son has cre­ated an ex­clu­sive menu of 100 dif­fer­ent va­ri­eties, in­clud­ing a 32 sausage ‘wee­nie wreath’, a foot-long sausage wrapped in smoked streaky ba­con, Whit­stable rock oys­ters wrapped in crispy prosci­utto and ve­gan op­tions. The brain­child of creative team Messhead, the pop-up Sausage Party serves all 100 pigs in blan­kets vari­a­tions, with un­lim­ited tast­ings for £20 per head.

Jim said: “Like many peo­ple, pigs in blan­kets are my ab­so­lute favourite at Christ­mas, and it has been a long-held dream of mine to cre­ate a menu filled with these tasty treats, fea­tur­ing epic ver­sions of clas­sic pigs, as well as putting a whole new spin on the con­cept. “I’m sure I’m not the only one whose idea of heaven is all-you-can-eat sausages.” Also on the fes­tive menu is Santa’s Whop­per, a fes­tive burger fea­tur­ing a Christ­mas din­ner in a bun. There’s also a Christ­mas cock­tail menu from a Choco­late Orange Mar­tini to a It’s a Won­der­ful Life, Cinque Ports’ twist on a clas­sic Gin Alexan­der or if you want to fol­low the porky theme, there’s a Ham Daiquiri - a clas­sic Straw­berry Daiquiri with added spiced ham stock and a pig in blan­ket gar­nish.

There will be in-house DJS ev­ery Fri­day in the run-up to Christ­mas at the gas­tro pub, which is a short walk from Mar­gate sta­tion. Tick­ets for the Sausage Party are on sale via cin­que­ports.co.uk. The his­toric venue was re­stored and re­launched last year.
