Mulled wine, mince pies, advent calendars...and Christmas movies - they’re all guaranteed to make you feel festive.

This weekend, the Gulbenkian in Canterbury is giving you the chance to enjoy two of the most enduring festive flicks - The Muppet Christmas Carol and It’s a Wonderful Life, as part of its cinema programme in the run-up to Christmas.

Brian Henson directs his late father’s creations in the re-telling of Charles Dickens classic, starring Michael Caine as the crotchety Ebeneezer Scrooge, with everyone’s favourite muppets, including the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future.

Tickets for the showing on Saturday, December 7 at 1.30pm, cost £1 to £3. At 4.30pm, also on Saturday, December 8, there will be a screening of one of the greatest Christmas film of all time - It’s a Wonderful Life.

An angel is sent from Heaven to help a desperatel­y frustrated businessma­n by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed. The Frank Capra film stars James Stewart and Donna Reed, with Lionel Barrymore and Henry Travers as Clarence the angel, in search of his wings.
