Cinema opens its doors

-

A new state-of-the-art six screen cinema is set to open this weekend. Picturehouse Cinemas opens the new Ashford Picturehouse in Elwick Place on Saturday, December 15.

It will have a bar, cafe and restaurant, as well as having kids’ club and dementia friendly screenings, Vintage Sundays and Discover Tuesdays.

Half of its screens will be capable of screening 3D titles and it will be the first Picturehouse Cinema to have a laser projector.

Fully wheelchair accessible, there will also be an infrared system to play audio-described tracks (when available) through headphones provided.

The site was once the former Cattle Market and has been developed by Stanhope PLC on behalf of Ashford Borough Council.

The cinema will embrace mainstream blockbusters and family favourites such as Mary Poppins Returns and Wreck-it Ralph 2, as well as indie and arthouse hits.
