Cin­ema opens its doors

A new state-of-the-art six screen cin­ema is set to open this week­end. Pic­ture­house Cin­e­mas opens the new Ash­ford Pic­ture­house in El­wick Place on Sat­ur­day, De­cem­ber 15.

It will have a bar, cafe and restau­rant, as well as hav­ing kids’ club and de­men­tia friendly screen­ings, Vin­tage Sun­days and Dis­cover Tues­days.

Half of its screens will be ca­pa­ble of screen­ing 3D ti­tles and it will be the first Pic­ture­house Cin­ema to have a laser pro­jec­tor.

Fully wheel­chair ac­ces­si­ble, there will also be an in­frared sys­tem to play au­dio-de­scribed tracks (when avail­able) through head­phones pro­vided.

The site was once the for­mer Cat­tle Mar­ket and has been de­vel­oped by Stan­hope PLC on be­half of Ash­ford Bor­ough Coun­cil.

The cin­ema will em­brace main­stream block­busters and fam­ily favourites such as Mary Pop­pins Re­turns and Wreck-it Ralph 2, as well as indie and art­house hits.
