ASHFORD RAIL progressed in the National Club Two Plus Fours, beating Hythe 48-25 on Sunday morning

They made it a double success in the afternoon, with a 127-89 win over Sellindge in a six-rink mixed triples. Lead Ashleigh Minter, Tony Barnes and skipper Gordon Samson recorded the highest winning rink, 34-6

Rail went out of the National Top Club competitio­n, losing 4-1 at home to Lenham last Friday night.

The two clubs met again the following day – Rail winning 82-77 in a five men’s and one ladies’ triples

For the ladies, lead Anne Rutland, Jackie Aldridge and skip Jenny Farmer claimed the highest winning rink, 28-10.

EIGHT Kent County Bowling Associatio­n coaches held a clinic at Tenterden.

They took a series of basic skills sessions, including stance and delivery of the wood – videoing club bowlers in action at the Recreation Ground Road rinks.

Club spokesman Alan Haselup said: “Twenty four of our members took part and it proved a successful day.”

Southloco beat Hombull 3-1, while Premier high-fliers Volunteer edged Gunners 1-0. McDonalds proved too strong for Libyans, winning 4-0 with two goals each from Bromley and Wynter. Crafty Five moved to the next round with a 4-1 win over Sutton Saints, while Jake North got both for Missfits as they beat Stour Centre 2-0.
