Rolvenden bowed out of the Kent Junior Cup after a 2-1 extra-time defeat at Rochester & District League side Parkwood CA on Saturday. Tim Sims fired them in front midway through the first half, reward for being the much stronger side for long periods. They also started the second half strongly, only for Parkwood to equalise with a 20yard free-kick. The tie finished 1-1 at 90 minutes only for Parkwood to snatch victory with another 20-yard strike, leaving Rolvenden to rue on those earlier missed chances. Metro’s journey in the county competitio­n also ended with a 4-1 defeat at Beltinge. Meanwhile in the league, Lee Gosbee’s strike earned Lydd a 4- 4 draw against Aldington. They trailed 4-2 at one stage before Dan Frost hit his second of the game to spark the comeback Earlier, new signing Charlie Benard put Lydd in front only to be pegged back by half-time. Aldington took the lead, but Frost made it 2-2. Joe West’s double, Ryan Lymn and Wes Lavender’s penalty made up Aldington’s tally, with referee Chris Robins winning praise for his performanc­e with the whistle. Scott Burden grabbed a hat-trick as The Woolpack won 6-2 at Riverside. Burden put them in front at half-time, punishing a defensive mistake, before squeezing home the second, after seizing upon a poor clearance. Bradley Godden pulled one back almost immediatel­y, racing onto Lewis Rae’s lofted through ball, before chipping over the advancing keeper. Chris Fenton added two more, bookending Burden’s third, before Christian Whittaker pulled another goal back. Matt Hadlum got Woolpack’s sixth to round off the scoring.
