Youth charged with High Street attack

A teenager has appeared in court after a town centre stabbing attack that left a 16-year-old boy with multiple injuries. Herat Khan, 18, of no fixed address, was arrested on Saturday after the attack in Ashford’s Lower High Street. He has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

The victim was found with multiple stab wounds near the fountain, close to Sports Direct, and taken to a London hospital.

The incident has caused shock in the town.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after a town centre attack which left a teenage boy with multiple stab wounds.

Herat Khan, of no fixed address, was arrested on Saturday following the attack in Ashford’s Lower High Street in the early hours of Friday morning.

He was charged on Tuesday with GBH with intent and has been remanded in custody.

Khan appeared at Medway Magistrate­s Court yesterday (Wednesday) morning via a video link from Folkestone police station.

A 16-year-old boy was found with multiple stab wounds near the fountain close to Sports Direct at 2.40am last Friday.

He was taken to a London hospital and is understood to be making a good recovery this week.

In total, police arrested four men in connection with the incident.

Two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested shortly after the incident, and a further two, including a 19-year-old man and Khan, were arrested on Saturday.

The other three have been released on bail until Monday, December 15.

Police are still appealing for informatio­n about the attack. DCI Emma Banks said: “We
