- By Samantha Williams

A customer allegedly assaulted the manager of an Ashford fast food restaurant in an unprovoked attack.

Officers were called to McDonald’s, in High Street, following reports a man jumped over the counter and threw ice over himself from one of the machines.

When a member of staff asked the man to leave however, he was allegedly assaulted.

Police say they are now investigating the incident.

A spokesman said: “Police were called at 6.55pm on Saturday, October 11 after a customer was said to have assaulted a manager in the restaurant.

‘Our first priority is to ensure that our restaurants are safe and welcoming environments for both our customers and employees’

“It is alleged the suspect jumped over the counter and threw some ice over himself.

“He was asked to leave and then allegedly assaulted the manager.”

Part of the incident is believed to have been caught on video which has been posted on Facebook and shared nearly 50 times and viewed more than 7,000 times.

The video shows a man go behind the counter and tamper with equipment.

He also waves objects in a member of staff’s face.

The clip shows the colleague asking him to leave, saying: “Get out of my store.”

The request however is met with the reply: “This isn’t your store it’s Ronald McDonald’s (store).”

The worker then asks them: “Is it really that funny?”

Police added that inquiries are continuing.

A McDonald’s spokesman said: “I can confirm that an incident did take place at our Ashford High Street restaurant.

“Our first priority is to ensure that our restaurants are safe and welcoming environments for both our customers and employees.

“We have informed the police and will continue to assist them with their investigation.”
