Tumelty makes certain unbeaten run continues

-

Ryan Tumelty’s hat-trick ensured Kennington maintained their unbeaten record in Division 1 East with a 3-1 win at Holland & Blair Reserves.

Dan Scorer’s side have won three and drawn the other in their opening four league games, bouncing back well from their disappointments in cup competitions

Bromley Green had a poor day, losing 7-0 at East Kent College.

Tenterden Town came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw at home to Sutton Athletic Reserves in Division 2 East.

The game was new boss Freddie Rogers’ first league game in charge since taking over from Mark Kerrigan.

The visitors took the lead when Town goalkeeper Ross Antrum dropped a long ball into the box, allowing a Sutton forward to pounce and open the scoring.

However, Town weren’t behind for long, Dan Sains finishing well to convert Jack McKenzie’s through ball.

Tenterden created plenty of chances early in the second half, only to concede a second goal from another long ball.

Town continued to press and got their reward when McKenzie headed in at the back post.

Rogers said: “A lack of a clinical finish cost us in a game where we had plenty of chances and didn’t take them.

“A few new faces are expected at training this week, so competition for places is going to be increased.”

Town player-coach George Hayes scored for the Kent County League Representative side in a 5-4 defeat by Sport Recruitment USA in a friendly at Chatham last Wednesday.

Wayne Beaney scored twice as Rolvenden won 5-1 at home to East Kent College Reserves in Division 3 East.

Ben Charlesworth , Cully Sayer and David Williams added the others.
