Don’t miss out on KM walk
The organiser of one of the first KM Group’s charity walks staged two decades ago has put his seal of approval on the anniversary event taking place this Sunday.
More than 400 participants are expected to put their best feet forward for charity at the 20th anniversary walk. Forty good causes will benefit, including the KE’s charity of the year Guide Dogs.
Peter Andrews from Wychling was project manager for one of the first KM Charity Walks in May 1996. Five hundred and sixty walkers raised £7,674 for the British Olympic Appeal.
The charity walk became an annual event, and all of the walks combined have raised £843,000.
Participants on Sunday will follow one of two circular routes – five-mile or 10-mile versions – starting from Mote House in Maidstone.
They will receive a goody bag and souvenir medal at the finish. The walk will conclude with a garden party in the grounds of Mote House.
Event organiser Sophie Wallace of the KM Charity Team said: “We’ve made this event extra special and urge fundraisers, leisure walkers and ramblers to join our celebrations and help make this year one to remember.”
Check-in is 10am for the 10-mile walk and 11am for the five-mile route.
