MP calls on jail to stop thug’s Facebook posts
Calls to increase security at a Kent prison have been made after an inmate from Ashford used a mobile phone to communicate with friends and family from inside his cell.
Rudy Little, who was just 18 when he was jailed for three years for a string of offences, has been communicating with people on the outside via the social network site Facebook.
The thug also posted his phone number on his profile page, inviting people to contact him, using the phrase “get at me”.
Now, following our story last week on Little’s activities, Ashford MP Damian Green, a former minister of state for policing and criminal justice, is calling for action.
Even before Little was sent to prison, he posted a series of photos and statuses on Facebook, bragging about arrests and court appearances and posing with what looked like a gun.
Then, earlier this month, after less than 16 weeks inside, he posted his mobile phone number on his page.
Just last week, Little changed his Facebook profile picture to one of him topless and flaunting his muscles.
A man claiming to be his dad responded: “Still not to big for a slap lol.”
In March, Little, of Matfield Close, South Ashford, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and criminal damage after embarking on a crime spree that included threatening a man with a knife because he refused to give him a cigarette and stabbing a front door.
Little has so many previous convictions, including for theft, criminal damage and robbery, that his criminal record file is 13 pages long.
A Prison Service spokesman said: “Social networks like Facebook are banned in prison. Any prisoner caught using social networking sites or mobile phones will face strict disciplinary action, which could include spending longer behind bars.
“If a prisoner is found to have an active social networking profile, we also take immediate action to close it down.”
