Hundreds stay up late to raise hospice funds
Gangs of nuns, Minions, cows and fairies were seen parading the streets of Ashford on Saturday night.
They were all taking part in the 2015 Pyjama Walk in aid of the Pilgrims Hospices.
The 900 strong crowd of walkers, which included friends, partners, siblings, parents and children, stepped out in style in their jazziest onesies, pyjamas and fancy dress for the 10k trek around the town.
Kicking off at the Ashford Designer Outlet, in Kimberley Way, entertainment was provided by Ashford Sings! and the Samba Pelo Mar, Whitstable’s Community samba band.
Participants prepared for the walk with a Clubbercise class, led by Paris Robinson, before setting off at 10pm.
On their return, walkers were invited to place a personal dedication to their loved ones on a special memory wall.
Volunteer massage therapists were also on hand to help soothe tired feet.
Pilgrims regional fundraising manager Pam Meller said: “The atmosphere was perfect, everyone was in good spirits and I was thrilled to see how many came along, all in their pyjamas of course.”
Pilgrims Hospices cares for 2,300 patients across each year who face illnesses without a cure and also gives support to their families and friends.
Pam added: “There are some truly generous and inspirational people in our Ashford community – thanks to you all from everyone at the hospice.”
