Borden Village Res 2 Willesborough Ath 3, Cuxton 91 3 Ashford United moved up to second in the Southern Counties East League in stunning fashion with a big win at Rochester United on Tuesday night.

The match had been switched to Rochester due to United’s 3G pitch not being ready but boss Danny Lye’s side wasted little time in settling into their stride.

Player-coach Paul Booth put Ashford ahead from the penalty spot in the sixth minute before Jamie Collado doubled the advantage nine minutes later.

Josh Woolley added a third 10 minutes before half-time and there proved to be no let up after the break.

Booth got his second eight minutes after play resumed and Dave Cook made it five three minutes later.

Darren Marsden completed the rout, scoring twice – in the 70th and 72nd minutes. The Fleetdown Utd v Faversham Strike Force, Greenways v Borden Village, Guru Nanak v Snodland, Halstead v Metrogas, Hildenborough v Staplehurst, Stansfeld OB v Kennington, Tudor Sports v Erith 147 Sports.

But Lye is not about to get carried away by the big win.

He said: “I am thrilled with the performance it’s only three points.

“Saying that, we dominated from the first minute until the last and once we got that penalty early on, there was no stopping us.
