Albert Webster had something different to display on show-and- tell day at Woodchurch County Primary School.

The 10-year-old hot rod racing prodigy, already a world and British champion for his age, turned up with his Citroen 2 racing car and trophies.

Racing is in the genes, father Dean competes in Euro Rods and UK V8 Sprints, while Albert’s grandfather and great-grandfather were both rally drivers.

The youngster said: “Racing cars is my life. I help prepare the car but the thing I love most of all is driving fast.”

Albert started racing on his sixth birthday, competing for four years in the Ninja sprint formula, winning the two major titles and the 2014 points championship.

He has now moved on to the junior formula (10-16 years), and plans to step up to Autograss meetings at Ivychurch on Romney Marsh in a couple of years.

Dean and Albert’s uncle, Jason Hilliard, built the car, while Albert and mum Annabelle look after the youngster’s website.

Sponsors include

Essex-based AmD Tuning, who are also involved in touring cars; Dean’s company South East Timber and Damp, based in Woodchurch and TCT MOT in Ashford.

Dean said: “Albert has always been passionate about his racing and looks forward to every race he is involved in.”
