Young farmers’ club gets ready for day of cuddles

Ashford and District Young Farmers’ Club (YFC) is busy preparing for its annual lambing day.

The popular event will be staged from 10am until 4pm on Sunday, April 10 at Rawnie Farm, Old Way, Appledore, TN26 2DB with all proceeds raised going to Kent, Sussex and Surrey Air Ambulance Trust and the club.

The highlight of the club’s spring calendar, it is a fun day out for all the family with opportunities to bottle-feed newborn lambs, watch sheep shearing demonstrations, visit the small animal cuddle corner, and take part in competitions and games, including guess the weight of the cake.

If you’re feeling peckish there will be a barbecue, a cake stall and various food and craft stalls showcasing some of Kent’s finest local produce.

Ben Corrie, Ashford YFC chairman, said: “We are delighted to be holding another lambing day at Rawnie Farm.

“Les Ramsden is kindly allow- ing us to use his farm for free again and without his generosity this event would not be possible.

“Lambing day is always a great day out, whether you’re eight or 80, so please do come and join the fun.”

Entry is £1 per person. There will be ample free parking (weather permitting).

The event is not suitable for pregnant women and no dogs are allowed on the farm.

Ashford and District Young Farmers’ Club is a registered charity and youth organisation which meets every Wednesday night throughout the year, in and around the Ashford area.

Young Farmers’ is one of the largest rural youth organisations in the UK dedicated to young people, between the ages of 16 and 26, who have a love for agriculture and rural life, or an interest in having fun with a similar age group.
