POINT-TO-POINT: SECOND MEETING

-

Kent Grand National winner Hunters Lodge is among the entries for the South East’s second meeting of the season – the Mid Surrey Drag at Godstone on Sunday.

Owner/jockey Gareth Henderson will be looking to follow up the success of the partnership that brought success at Charing last month but he will leave his options open until the day.

The pair could take on fellow winner Conkies Lad (Izzy Marshall) in the Novice and Veteran Riders Race, renewing rivalries from Penshurst of last season, or try their luck in the Mixed Open.

Lord Multifix and Mr Bennett, second and third in the National, are set to meet again in the opening Conditions event.

Will Fight, saddled by East Anglia based trainer David Kemp, is a previous course winner and has been placed in all four of his starts so far, winning last time out at Horseheath in Suffolk and looks the horse to beat.

Coeur Brule has impressive form with two wins from three starts in point-to-points and is in decent hunter chase form to boot as well and looks like he could be danger to Will Fight.

Alan Hill-trained Sharp Suit has an impressive record in point-to-points with six wins from 11 starts and could be a leading fancy in the Mixed Open.

Kent/East Sussex borders trainer Nick Pearce has Jenna Pride, second at Charing and Miss Alice Jones a Godstone winner last year, in the field for the Restricted.

Rose Grissell’s Iskrabob was unlucky to be brought down at Charing and should be in the mix in the Maiden.

Racing starts at 1pm – with pony racing beginning at 11.45am. Entry is £12 per person with under-16’s and car parking free.

The postcode for sat navs is RH9 8DB.
