We’ve used our life savings on film – now we need help

- By Aidan Barlow

Two comedians are hoping the public will help kickstart their short film production to become a feature film for wider audiences.

Brendan Cleaves, 33, and Stuart Foreman, 34, grew up in Ashford and attended Homewood School in Tenterden before beginning their careers in comedy and film making.

Their latest project is a film called Roger, about a friendship broken apart by the arrival of a talking ventriloquist’s dummy.

Now the duo are based in London and have enlisted the help of renowned comedian Seann Walsh and Game of Thrones actor John Bradley, but need to raise £10,000 to add the final touches to the film and take it to film festivals.

Brendan said: “Stuart and I have known each other since we were 11 years old. Stuart used to be a stand-up comedian and I’ve directed on films.

“We moved in together and started to write comedy scripts together. It works because it’s good to have someone to bounce ideas off and to tell you that your jokes are rubbish.

“Over the last six years or so we have put t o g e t her a bunch of projects and done three feature films. This one is an independent film.

“We’ve cashed our life savings to make it, now we’re in the post production phase and we’re looking to get funding to take it to the film festivals.”
