Ashford Rail suffered mixed fortunes on the first weekend of the new outdoor season.

They beat Folkestone Park 107-101 in a six-rink triples on Saturday but went down 108-93 in another against Dover club Gateway the following day.

Janet Williams, Paul Hunter, and skip George Coles were the best winning rink (25-12) against Folkestone Park.

Debbie Anderson, Clive Allen and skip Chris Knapp claimed the honours against Gateway.

The club are holding an open morning for new bowlers on Saturday between 10am and 1pm.

Hamstreet lost 62-65 at Cranbrook on Saturday.

P Brabon skipped the winning rink, including R Collick and J Vincer, to a 22-13 win.

Ashford Town lost 100-89 against Victoria Park on Saturday.

Dawn Bates, David White and Peter Collett were the best winning rink with a 20-19 victory.

Meanwhile, Tenterden Hamstreet 72-49 on Sunday.

Doris Finnis, Tony Masters and Terry Pickford were leading rink scorers, winning 31-7

G Colley, H Ford and skip Dorothy Servante headed the Hamstreet rinks, winning 18-13.

Tenterden vice-captain Terry Pickford led his side to a 45-43 victory over captain Ray Walker on Saturday.

The vice-captain trio Judith Pickford, Deb Penn and John James were the top rink, winning 25-6.

Tenterden beat Cranbrook 73-62 in a friendly. Joy Fry, Anne South and Ray Walker were the best rink, winning 22-17. defeated
