Town welcomes women’s fashion store to centre
Women will be able to stay on trend this autumn when a new fashion shop opens its doors to customers today (Thursday).
The Select Fashion store is opening next to Debenhams in the County Square Shopping Centre, and is targeting its stock towards 18 to 35-year-old women with lines including Parisien Paintbox, Hackney Girl, Wonderwall, Scandi and The Only Way is Essex.
The company already has 180 stores across the country and is looking to expand into more prime location stores. It has already interviewed staff over the past fortnight, and 10 have been appointed to work at the new shop.
County Square’s marketing coordinator Lesley Farnborough has welcomed the news of the store’s arrival at the Upper Oval section of the shopping centre.
She said: “There are a couple of stores coming in which we are really pleased about. We welcome Select coming in to County Square and we are delighted that the fashion brands are increasing.
“The new store has knocked through two units which have been empty for a while. There had been temporary tenants there, but now it is a lovely big unit which has all been done out nicely. It’s light and airy and fills out the area.”
Earlier this month Ms Farnborough said that it is “early days” in the hunt to bring new retailers in to fill the empty former BHS store.
The company closed its store earlier this summer, which had previously been a Littlewoods store and before that a Tesco.
Ms Farnborough concluded: “All in all things look very positive. Our current footfall numbers are up year on year, and figures are likely to beat the five million visitors we had in 2015.”
The Select Fashion store will open its doors today at 10am.
