Hunt joins thousands for early start in Hawaii

David Hunt flew the Ashford & District Road Running Club flag in the 44th running of the Honolulu Marathon.

He was among 29,000 athletes who took part in the event which started at 5am, crossing the line in 2,266th place in four hours 28 minutes and 34 seconds. Closer to home, Dan Green finished third in the Kent Christmas Cracker on Sunday.

The race was staged around a five-mile two-lap course around Betteshang­er Country Park.

Green crossed the line in 29.45, two seconds behind runner- up Jozef Zidek, with the pair led home by race winner Theo Bately, of Deal Tri.

Claire Green finished as the 12th lady in a time of 39.22.

Trevor Kay won the latest Ashford parkrun in a personal best time of 17.32.

Dan Green finished in fourth place in 19.09 and first MV40 in 19.09, followed home by Paul Moses (fifth and first MV500 in 19.13.

Other finishers included: Scott Lynch (in sixth place in 19.26), Robert Carpenter (eighth in 20.17) and Shane Dragwidge (12th in 20.17), Richard Baker (13th in 21.06), Mark Attenborou­gh (19th in 21.38), Terry Sellen (27th in 21.57) and Andrew Taylor (27th in 22.25).

Stu Nunn knocked 40 seconds from his personal best, finishing 28th in 22.36

Three other club runners were: Will Whittingto­n (25.34), Simon Jackson (28.55) and Julie Foster (30.25).
