WEBSTER HITS 300-GOAL MARK AND HAS CLUB RECORD IN HIS SIGHTS

-

Charlie Jupp, following up his hat-trick of the previous week, hit four goals in Tenterden Town’s 9-2 win at Ashford Dynamo in the League Cup. Ben Lawrence and Jack McKenzie both hit two each in the win. Laine Yeomans and James Sheppard both claimed hat-tricks as Folkestone Invicta Disability won 7-2 at Biddenden in Division 1. Another hat-trick, this time from Jamie White, helped Hythe Grovellers to a 3-2 win at Smeeth & Brabourne. Tyler Loosemore, Nick Stickels, Sam Casement and Luke Ford were on target for Rolvenden Reserves as they won 4-3 at home to Kennington Reserves. Jordan Griffin netted four as Bromley Green beat The Bull 6-1 in the Ashford Charity Trophy. Matt Wedge and Tom Armstrong added the other two. Kennington Reserves were beaten 4-1 at home by Faversham United. Bromley Green’s prolific Ashley Webster has Tony Rudd’s club record 355-goal mark in his sights.

Webster, who has played for Green since he was 12, registered his 300th senior goal when he hit the winner against Three Mariners in the Weald of Kent Charity Cup last month.

The 30-year-old sponsors the Ashford Saturday League team through his company Apex Facades, where he is a director and is also an assistant coach at Waterside.

Webster was out of the game for three years following serious injuries suffered while playing Sunday football in 2012. He feared he might never play again but is now looking to overhaul Rudd.

He has won several club awards, passing the 100-mark in 2005, before completing 300 senior games and 250 goals in 2011.

His most productive season was 2004-5 when he hit 39 goals in 29 games.

Club patron Dave Homewood said: “Ashley’s aim is to help the Green make a seamless return to Kent County League football, regaining their former status.”
