A new multicultural festival coming to Ashford this summer is looking for school performing groups and choirs to show the public what they can do.
Equator, the promotional branch of ShivaNova music company, which promotes and tours international performers at events in London and Kent, has secured a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to launch the new festival in partnership with the annual Festival in the Park event.
The free festival will take place in North Park, near the Stour Centre in Tannery Lane, over the weekend of July 7-9.
Organisers are on the hunt for community groups, youth groups and local artists to perform at the festival.
The weekend will feature appearances and workshops from some of Equator’s artists from across the globe.
There will also be a food tent demonstrating cuisine from Choirs are needed for a new multicultural festival around the world.
The Many Cultures in a Tent music programme is currently being finalised. Volunteers are needed to help run the festival.
In a statement ShivaNova/ Equator said: “We are now looking for school groups, school choirs aqnd youth ensembles and performing groups, and local artists to perform and celebrate with us.”
