Pick up a plant at garden

The annual plant fair at Godinton House takes place on Sunday, May 7, from 11am.

Visitors can enjoy a stroll round Godinton’s 13 acres of gardens and pick up some inspiration from the Italian Garden, Rose Garden, herbaceous borders and greenhouses and then stock up with plants from a dozen local specialist nurseries.

There will be unusual varieties of shrubs, herbs, grasses, roses, alpines and climbers on sale.

Head gardener, Viv Hunt said: “With so many of the big suppliers importing huge quantities of plants from nurseries abroad I’m very keen to support our local growers who are producing healthy, unusual plants which you know will be suited to our gardens and climate. They always bring something new which I can’t resist for the gardens here.”

This year there will also be Pivington Pots, Biddenden Vineyard’s cider and apple juice and Wood ‘n’ Ware which is a local not-for-profit organisation who will be selling their hand made bird houses.

Entry to the plant fair and garden is £5 for adult and refreshments will be available in the stables.
