Kentish Express Ashford & District
Dates set for start of £32m project
Dates have been confirmed for the start of roadworks on Chart Road in Ashford.
The work on the A28 will involve turning the main road into a dual carriageway between the Tank Roundabout and Matalan.
Subject to acquiring more land, work is due to start on the £32 million project at the beginning of next year.
Vegetation clearance is due to take place around January/February, with the main work starting in March and aiming to be completed in the autumn.
KCC says there will be minimal disruption to traffic on the road as the new lanes can be built alongside the existing ones.
However, part of Chart Road will have to be closed for a short period of time to lift in parts for the lanes over the railway bridge.
KCC is aiming to have purchased the required land by December 2017. It said any delay in the sale could push the start date back until 2019.
