How to help combat terrorism
Residents and businesses in Ashford have been learning how to help in the battle against terrorism.
Cineworld cinema in Eureka Park hosted Project Griffin, a terrorism awareness presentation, on Thursday last week.
Guests were taught about preventing terrorism and what to do if caught in an attack.
The current UK threat level for a terrorist attack is currently classed as severe, which means an attack on the UK is imminent.
About 70 people attended the event which was led by a Counter Terrorism Awareness officer.
The officer told all those in attendance: “This isn’t to scare you but to generate a sense of awareness and to inform and educate about the threat of terrorism.
“It’s also about hostile reconnaissance, which is where the public divert and prevent potential attacks.
“Information from the public has assisted in a third of highrisk terrorist investigations since 2013.”
