‘RUDE AND DISGUSTING LIARS’
COUPLE’S SHOCK AT SHOP’S REACTION TO COMPLAINT
A couple who claimed that a delivery driver was eating their food in the car were shocked to receive a response calling them “rude and disgusting liars”.
Leah Knight, 26, of South Ashford, says she and her partner Reece Tyler, 23, ordered two waffles on Monday night from Just Desserts in Bank Street, Ashford, via the national delivery website Just Eat.
Ms Knight said: “We ordered and paid for a Kinder Bueno waffle and a fudge brownie waffle.
“We heard a car pull up outside but it was just a man in his car eating and drinking.”
But the mum of three, who has another baby on the way, said: “I saw him take a box from the passenger side, open the box, eat the food and lick his fingers. “It was three or four times.” Ms Knight says that when the driver eventually came to the door, he claimed he had been waiting there for 10 minutes: “No one got out. He was sat in the car. It took about 10 minutes to bring it to the door.”
The couple questioned the driver about the food he had been eating.
Ms Knight said: “My partner went to his window. There was no box or bag there. Parts of our waffles were missing.”
The couple then contacted the store, where they claimed staff were unhelpful and refused to give them a refund.
Ms Knight later posted a review on the Just Desserts Facebook page but was shocked when one of the company’s Facebook page admins replied calling her a “rude and disgusting person” and a “big liar” in pursuit of free food.
The reply also contained a swearword.
She said: “It was a bad review and they didn’t like it. We just wanted our money back, not another order.”
Just Eat has refunded the couple the full £15.50, including the £3 delivery charge. The independent dessert parlour opened last July, on the site of the former Bombay Street restaurant.
