Schools win praise from inspectors
Inspectors have praised staff and pupils at two secondary schools for achieving good standards.
Ofsted inspectors visited The Wyvern School and The North School last month and have published their findings this week.
Wyvern head teacher John Somers was praised for his leadership at a school where staff and pupils “forge positive relationships”.
While there have been some “teething problems” with the new curriculum, inspectors recognised progress made to cater for pupils with different needs.
The report noted: “The school is a happy, caring place. Pupils behave well and make good progress. Staff skilfully use a wide range of approaches and techniques that are fitting for pupils’ different needs.”
The North School also achieved a good rating in all five categories of inspection, which included the standard of teaching and the effectiveness of leadership.
New head teacher Anna Lawrence described it as an “excellent result” and said everyone connected with the school should take pride in the findings.
She said: “All the staff, and especially the students, should be congratulated on this excellent result. We can all be very proud of our school.”
The report highlighted the support as part of the Swale Academies Trust network and said it helped to establish an “ethos of high ambition” at the school.
Inspectors praised staff for their commitment to every pupil and said: “They work work very hard to plan and provide for the different groups of pupils so that they make good progress.”
