Ashford & District Roadrunners were out in force at the opening round of the Kent Cross Country League at Stanhill Farm, Dartford on Saturday.
CJ Lattimer and Jon Pearce (pictured below) came home joint first for the club, completing the four-lap 9.8k course in 36min43sec, taking 57th and 58th respectively. Trevor Kay wasn’t far behind in 69th (37.30) followed by Daniel Green in 87th (38.28).
Jon Wells was next in 38.50 for 94th place and Paul Moses crept under 40 minutes in 39.57 followed by, Rob Barton (40.41), Richard Baker (41.14), Scott Lynch (41.35), Mark Attenborough (42.06), Ryan Edwards (44.16), Stuart Nunn (45.14) and Ricky Hickman (46.27).
In the women’s two-lap event, Rhian Shrimplin led the club home in 26.14 for 97th place overall followed by, Claire Green (27.04), Elodie Paviot (27.47), Jaclyn Kay (27.59), Lucy Johnstone (29.45) and Becky Hodgson (33.14).
Rik Holden claimed a top-five category finish at the Maidstone Marathon after completing the course in 3:48.25. The time secured him 18th overall and fifth in the Men’s V40.
At the Chilham Duathlon, Paul Moses finished second in his category and 13th overall in the sprint race. He crossed the line after a 5k crosscountry run, 27k bike and 2.5k run in 1:31.06.
Paul Brassington took fourth spot in the Chilham Castle 10k race, finishing in 51.33 ahead of Anthony Brown in eighth (53.08). Rhian Shrimplin took 10th spot in the 5k race in 31.17.
At the Ashford parkrun, Paul Butler was first home for the club in 21.41 for 22nd place, followed closely by the first lady home, Filiz Salih in a PB 22.33 to claim 31st place overall – Terry Sellen finished in the same time.
James Chapman was next in 22.42, followed by Rod Kessack (23.02), Will Whittington (25.00), Ann Fidge (30.29), Jeremy Chambers (33.39) and Julie Foster (36.02). Hazel Turner ran Warrington parkrun in 22.22, finishing third lady and first in age category.
