Man fights for his life after crash

Crashes close route twice within an hour

A driver was taken to hospital with life-threatenin­g injuries after a serious crash.

The A2070 near Park Farm in Ashford was closed on Sunday after a silver VW Golf collided with a white Dacia Sandero and then a red Peugeot.

Emergency services and the air ambulance were called to the scene at 11.50am and the road was closed for several hours.

The driver of the VW Golf, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to the neurologic­al unit at King’s College Hospital in London with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, a second motorist was treated by paramedics before being taken to the William Harvey Hospital.

In a separate incident, the A2070 was also closed on the dual carriagewa­y southbound from junction 10 after a motorcycli­st fell off his bike near the Barrey Road junction at 12.40pm on the same day.

The motorcycli­st was taken to the William Harvey Hospital, and his injuries were described as serious but not life-threatenin­g.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigat­ion Unit have appealed for any witnesses who have not already provided details about the first crash to call on 01622 798538 and quote reference number GD/259/17.
