Final straw

-

A glass attack on the night of Friday, September 8 into the early hours of Saturday, September 9 this year was the final straw for the police, the hearing was told.

PC Pringle said: “It was a vicious attack from behind with glass, then there was then blow after blow. This was a serious incident, and Mr Daly knew how bad it was, he was there.

“Footage shows that the victim had blood dripping onto the pavement and customers appeared shocked by what they saw.

“We believe Mr Daly knowingly provided the wrong CCTV footage. He must have known this would delay the police investigation. This wasn’t the first serious case where we couldn’t get CCTV footage but this bordered on obstruction.

“The authorities were not given the opportunity to suitably respond to this incident. In the end the victim refused to support a prosecution. Why would he? The premises didn’t take it seriously, it did its best to conceal this incident. The victim felt let down.”
