Car stranded by bollard

A busy road in Ashford had to be closed last Thursday after a car got stuck on a rising bollard.

It is believed the car was following a bus, which the bollards automatically lower for, near the South Stour Avenue junction in Beaver Road when the vehicle got caught on a bollard as it begun to rise again.

The incident happened at around 10.30am and diversions were put in place for buses until 2pm, when the car was removed.

Highways have confirmed that the damaged bollard will remain down until permanent repairs are carried out.
