Church all set for festive tree festival

-

A Christmas tree festival is being held at All Saints Church in Woodchurch.

The church will be full of the smell of pine needles over the weekend of December 2-3, from 10am to 5pm both days.

The event will raise funds for the FitzRoy Leo Trust Woodchurch, a residential home for adults with special needs, and All Saints Church – where many residents regularly worship.

Homemade soup, jacket potatoes and afternoon teas will be available.

The festival is being supported by various village organisations, each of which will decorate a tree to their own design.

Members of Woodchurch WI have decided to dress theirs on the theme of friendship.

They have been busy creating friendship peg dolls. As the tree is 12ft tall, lots of dolls will be needed to decorate it. But they have already made characters representing many aspects of WI life throughout the ages, as well as from around the world.

A ‘flapper’ represents the group’s 90th birthday. Another sports the president’s sash, and a third has a ‘Votes for Women’ banner.
