Finished Sheep – 922 Sold Spring Grove School in Wye is the first independent school, and setting of any type in Kent, to be approved by the Forest School Association as a Forest School Provider.

Only nine other schools and six providers in the UK have achieved this recognition.

Bill Jones, Spring Grove School’s headmaster, said: “We are delighted to be approved. It is an honour and privilege for us to have been recognised and my sincere thanks must go to our outstanding Forest School team.”

Spring Grove, which teaches children from the ages of two to 11, says this alternative type of learning has tied in well with its creative educational approach and ethos.

The Forest School approach allows children to foster their problem-solving and co-operation skills, as well as their confidence and selfesteem, and has left pupils with an appreciation for the outdoors as well as a range of teamwork and skills.

Mr Jones said: “Our staff, parents and pupils choose Spring Grove School for its rural environment, ‘free-range’ attitude, and because it’s truly a great place to grow.

“I have witnessed our children develop and mature through the programme. The children love it and can’t get enough.”
