Bikes stolen from garages

Police are ap­peal­ing for in­for­ma­tion af­ter high-value moun­tain bikes were re­ported stolen from neigh­bour­ing garages on the same night.

Bur­glars broke into the two garages in Pem­bury Place, Ash­ford, on Sun­day night.

Three moun­tain bikes were stolen from the first garage – green and blue Canyon bikes and a black Di­a­mond bike.

A pres­sure washer, a ra­dio­con­trolled car and a num­ber of tools and moun­tain bike parts were also taken.

From the sec­ond garage, the in­trud­ers stole a cus­tomised or­ange and black Mon­draker moun­tain bike.

Insp Ja­son Atkin­son of the Ash­ford Com­mu­nity Safety Unit said: “We are ap­peal­ing for any­one who saw any sus­pi­cious ac­tiv­ity in the area on Sun­day night to con­tact us.

“We would also like to hear from any­one who has seen or been of­fered sim­i­lar bikes for sale.”

The unit is keen to pro­mote bike se­cu­rity and aims to stage a town-cen­tre bike-mark­ing ses­sion in the New Year. Insp Atkin­son urg­ers own­ers to keep bikes in locked sheds or garages, to take pho­tos of them and keep a note of serial num­bers.
