Children to benefit from co-operation
A charity playschool has been selected as the fundraising partner for the newly opened Southern Co-op store in Loudon Way on the Godinton Park estate.
And the partnership, which runs for a year, started with the company making a £1,000 donation to Godinton Playschool, which operates from the nearby Godinton village hall.
The playschool was selected from a number of applications through the Southern Co-op’s ‘Love Your Neighbourhood’ scheme.
Claire Buckle, chair of the playschool committee, said: “We’re based right in the heart of the Godinton community and look after 40 local two-to-four year olds who we nurture and get ready for their next step to primary school.
“In this, our 25th anniversary year, we are delighted to be partnering with Southern Co-op. With the money they’ve donated, we hope to buy some sensory equipment for our SEN children to help them communicate, encourage play together and grow their confidence as well as make our garden to be a fun place for all.”
Gill Kenward, the new store’s manager, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Godinton Playschool. We are really looking forward to organising some fundraising activities with them and have a few ideas already.”
