Holden leads club home in marathon

Rik Holden com­pleted the multi-lap, multi-ter­rain Brett Owler Marathon on Sun­day, fin­ish­ing 10th over­all in 3hr 38min 28sec as the lone en­trant from the club.

Filiz Salih was first home for the club in the half-marathon in 1:57.59, fin­ish­ing 66th over­all, Becky Hodgson clocked a per­sonal best 2:35.33.

In the 10k event, Scott Lynch fin­ished fifth over­all, de­spite tak­ing a de­tour, in 48.08.

Gill Prag­nell took the hon­our of be­ing first lady home over­all, com­plet­ing the course in 48.35. Heather John­son fin­ished 36th in 59.01 and Shelly Blake crossed in 1:00.37 (42nd).

In the third round of Kent League Cross Coun­try at Dan­son Park in Bex­ley, Lucy John­stone fin­ished first for the club in 26.10 (120th), He­len Wee­den fol­lowed in 27.33 (131st), Emma Hargreaves fin­ished in 28.36 (140th), while Sue Reader came home in 28.43 (142nd).

Ash­ford & District RR women’s team lie 16th out of 21 over­all af­ter three fix­tures.

Dan Green was third over­all in the Ash­ford Tri Club 666. He fin­ished the course in King’s Wood, Chal­lock, in a time of 49.25.

Club­mate Jon Wells fol­lowed in fourth place (49.44), while Paul Moses and Chris Boyce fin­ished 11th and 12th in times of 53.00 and 53.52 re­spec­tively. Adrian Moody com­pleted the tough course in 55.23, for 15th place over­all.

Steve Hick­man trav­elled to Hamp­shire for the Hayling Is­land 10 mile race and com­pleted the course in 1:28.17.

On a chilly morn­ing, 184 run­ners braved the near sub-zero con­di­tions to take part in the Ash­ford parkrun on Satur­day. Keith Haynes fin­ish­ing first for the club in 10th po­si­tion in a time of 20.34. Carl Ire­land was 18th (21.10 PB), Ricky Hick­man 19th (21.41) and Paul Moses 20th (21.43).

Other times: 25 Richard Baker (2.07), 26 James Chap­man (22.08), 27 Terry Sellen (22.18), 31 Pat But­ler (22.42), 40 Rod Kes­sack (23.36), 100 John Fidge (28.21), 106 Ann Fidge (28.53), Heather John­ston com­pleted tail-run­ner du­ties, fin­ish­ing in 57.15.
