‘Two beds are slightly better than just one’

Last year, Cllr Bernard Heyes (Con) told the Express how he thinks the town centre is being “swamped” by one-bedroom flats with no parking.

Commenting on the two-bed Panorama development, the Godinton councillor said: “Two beds are slightly better than one.

“My main concern is the sustainability, in the long term I don’t think it is going to attract the right people to the town.

“We want people to be investing in the town and spending money.

“I’d like to see more town houses - I think we are getting an excessive amount of flats in the town.”
