New Panorama flats due to be finished this year

Work to build new apartments on either side of The Panorama building is due to be completed this year.

Investin Plc is constructing 110 two-bedroom flats with one block on the junction of Wellesley Road and Somerset Road and the other on the corner at Edinburgh Road.

All properties at the development will include a free car parking space, and the majority will have a balcony, roof terrace or access to a ground floor garden.

Inside, new residents will enjoy en-suite bathrooms, designer kitchens, and video security entry into each apartment.

Investin Plc bosses say they are expecting construction to be completed “towards the end of 2019”, but would not give any further details.

The scheme was originally approved by Ashford Borough Council (ABC) planners in 2012.

It was given the green light at the same time as ABC gave permission for the conversion of Charter House for up to 234 one and two-bed flats.

The triple-winged office block has towered over the Ashford town centre skyline since the 1970s.

Today it is called The Panorama following its massive and multi-million pound revamp into flats and apartments by the developer Dukelease Properties, which saw the opportunity to convert the empty landmark building into residential accommodation.
