Eight tries in big win

Ashford 2nds completed the double on Saturday, travelling to Medway 4ths and securing a comfortabl­e 53-14 win in Late Red 3. Three players scored two tries, Andy Ticehurst, Charlie Cox and Max Jordan, while there was one each for the Burdon brothers Jack and Grant. Steve Tanner contribute­d 13 points from five conversion­s and a penalty. The result leaves Ashford on top of the table with a four-point margin above second-placed Weavering Warriors. They face Sevenoaks 4ths on Saturday. On Sunday, Ashford Ladies hosted Harwich Dovercourt, and in an evenly matched game lost out by five points, going down 15-10 despite two tries from Jules Teague. The coming week’s game against Worthing will provide an early opportunit­y for the team to bounce back. Ashford under -13s started the new year much as they finished 2018, with a good away win over Folkestone. In an entertaini­ng game, the sides combined to score 80 points.
