Haley calling the shots

Division 5

-

Daniel Haley moved to the top of the Kent League batting charts with a monster innings for Bexley 3rds on Saturday.

Haley blitzed eight sixes and 24 fours against Offham at the OCG on his way to 195 before he was finally caught off the bowling of Nigel Stoodley.

It’s the second-highest score across the 12 divisions so far and means Haley has already scored 309 runs this season.

His ton helped Bexley to 336-5 with Sam Field (46) playing a supporting role.

In a one-sided contest the home side limped to 99 all out in reply, George Lush claiming 5-15 after Conor Daly (2-14) removed both openers.

Archie Hobbs-Moore (2-25) also got among the wickets as unbeaten Bexley eased to a win which leaves them 10 points behind leaders Bromley Town and Littlebourne. Newly-promoted

Littlebourne maintained their 100% record with a five-wicket victory at home to Betteshanger Colliery Welfare.

Andrew McNicholas topscored with 43 for Bettes but they were dismissed for 168. Three wickets each for

Jack Parr (3-22), Robbie Loomer (3-34) and Graham Gould (3-36) did most of the damage and Shaun Loomer (1-44) finished off the innings.

Similarly, there was no standout in the Littlebourne run-chase with several players doing their bit. Openers Byron Gould (32) and Tom Richardson (34) laid the platform and it was left to Joshua Gould (25 not out) and Steve Davies (32 not out) to finish the job.

The Roebucks are celebrating their first win in the Kent League after extending Rodmersham’s wait for one.

An unbeaten 63 from captain Michael Jones failed to inspire his Rodmersham team-mates as Tharusha Tilakarathne (5-26) helped dismiss the visitors for 151. Usman Afzaal then hit 68 not out as The Roebucks eased to an eight-wicket victory, captain Chris Lewis finishing just two runs short of a half-century.

Hartley Country Club scored 248-9 but it wasn’t enough to beat Chislehurst & West Kent.

In fact, there were more than six overs remaining when the home side wrapped things up at 252-5 to secure their first win of the season.
