Defeat dents survival bid

Nonington moved top of Division 3 with four games to go.

They’re four points clear of Harvel, who lost to Gravesend, after a five-wicket success against Leeds & Broomfield.

The Nonington bowlers did the business with wickets for Harry Mansell (3-23), Jason Cork (3-9) and Paul Betts (2-27) as Leeds slipped to 109 all out despite opener George Davis’ 42.

Nonington didn’t have it all their own way in reply, opener Dan Dawkins falling to Max Aitken (3-20) without scoring. But an unbeaten 51 from Daniel Birch, including 12 fours, saw the new leaders home in the 29th over. Previous table-toppers Harvel dropped to second after losing to Gravesend by 18 runs.

Indravadan Padhiyar (45) and Jamie Maguire (44) topscored as Gravesend were bowled out for 193, Oliver McSweeney, Alex Fisher and Richard Stevenson with three wickets apiece.

Kieran Wells (2-45) removed Ben Paterson as Harvel lost their first wicket with 13 on the board. Fellow opener Dominic Saunders made 58 from 68 balls but four of Harvel’s top six went in single figures.

Elliot Campbelton (37 off 63 balls) kept them in the hunt but Harvel were all out for

175, Usman Pervaiz (2-12) finishing off the innings. Bexleyhead remain third after a comfortabl­e victory against Catford & Cyphers.

Benjamin Aldred top-scored with 74 as all the top order made starts in Bexleyheat­h’s total of 229.

Catford were bowled out for 188 in reply, with the visitors winning by 41 runs.

Tonbridge moved 20 points clear of the relegation zone with victory over Catford Wanderers.

Stephen Hall hit six boundaries in a knock of 52 not out while 34 extras boosted Tonbridge to 166. Wanderers were left to rue the high extras count after being bowled out for 140 in reply, 26 runs short.

Ewart Thompson made 44 but two wickets apiece for Matthew Smiles, Martin Batley, Nadeem Shehzad and Chirag Patel helped Tonbridge clinch an important victory. Gore Court’s miserable season continued with another heavy defeat.

Court, with back-to-back relegation­s confirmed, were bowled out for 67 by a Cowdrey side who knocked off the runs without losing a wicket (Minhaj Jalill 46 not out). Clarence Baird hit 36 from 40 balls but was the only Court batsman to reach double figures as Jalill (4-11) and Nicholas Farr (3-4) filled their boots. Broadstair­s’ survival in Division 1 hangs in the balance as they slumped to a six-wicket defeat to Folkestone.

Invited to bat, the visitors seemed to be heading towards a 200-plus score, reaching 88-2 at the drinks break having seen Jayojit Basu complete his halfcentur­y.

He and Alex Hogben (22) struck up a partnershi­p worth 40, before Basu (52), Elliot Fox (one) and Scott Narraway (17) fell in quick succession to leave their side on 111-5.

Matt Frewin added 25 in a 48-run partnershi­p with Jamie Dewell (16) before Broadstair­s were bowled out for 179 in the 48th over.

Folkestone were reduced to 29-3 early on after Chris Jay was trapped lbw by Matt Hardy for 22.

Jarred Lysaught (87 not out) and Leon Morgan (52) went on to build a match-winning partnershi­p of 131 as Folkestone reached 180-4 in 43 overs.

Bromley beat Upchurch by two wickets as they chased down a winning score of 236-8 with one ball to spare.

Upchurch started slowly as they were confined to 33-3 having lost skipper David Masters for a duck.

Phillip Apps was then bowled by Amir Raza for 21 before Suman Shrestha (76) and Noah Mclennan took their total into three figures.

Mclennan’s departure for 21 paved the way for a 112-run partnershi­p courtesy of Shrestha and Adeel Hussain (68), taking Upchurch to 213-6.

Khan racked up 4- 39 for Bromley as Upchurch were bowled out for 235.

Bromley opened with a 111-run first-wicket stand through Sam Smith (58) and Richard SelveyClin­ton (65) until the latter was caught by Harry Mawson off Mclennan.

Freddie Wilson fired an unbeaten 65 from 63 deliveries to lead his side to victory in 49.5 overs, despite Hussain’s 3-48.

Mark Epps’ century led Holmesdale to a 23-run victory over St Lawrence & Highland Court.

Holmesdale slipped to 22-2 after opting to bat as Joseph Payne dismissed openers Dom May and Daniel Brabham on his way to 3-71.

Epps and skipper Luke Blackaby then shared an 83-run partnershi­p until the latter was caught by Charley Nash off Jamie Vant-Harrison for 33.

Nick Miller (59) arrived as Epps’ next partner, with the pair putting on another 107 between them to take their side to 212 at the time of the former’s dismissal.

Epps finally went for 112 when he was caught by Will Heywood off Payne as Holmesdale ended their innings on 288-7.

St Lawrence lost Matthew Hammond and Justin Watson for single-digit scores early on in reply, while Nash supplied 40 in a 54-run partnershi­p with Heywood.

Once Nash departed, Heywood reached 50 as he and captain Will Hilton (43) put on a partnershi­p of 54.

Piers Richardson hit 26 and Jamie Vant-Harrison finished 24 not out but St Lawrence fell short on 265-9.

Bromley Common won by five wickets in a tight affair with Linden Park.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, Linden were set on their way by an 84-run partnershi­p between Max Campbell and Graeme Francis.

Francis was eventually caught by Jay Mannall for 31 off the bowling of Leigh Walker, who finished with figures of 5-38.

Campbell and Daniel Corner (24) hit 48 between them before the latter was trapped lbw by Jack Gallagher.

Linden closed on 234-7 having been spearheade­d by Campbell’s 107 from 140 deliveries, which included 13 fours and one six.

Common were 8-1 in reply after losing James McGruer cheaply, before Toby Finzel (39) and Oliver Hickford (88) produced a 91-run stand.

Gamindu Kanishka added another 33 followed by an unbeaten knock of 28 from Walker as Common reached 236-5 in 48.3 overs.

Tenterden beat Hayes by three wickets thanks to half-centuries from Dan Stickels and Shannon Fattore.

Put in to bat by the hosts, Hayes were led by knocks of 61 from Finlay Baker and 60 by skipper Beau Couldrey among seven single-digit scores. Jamie Bristow-Diamond finished with figures of 3-41 as Hayes managed 198-9 from their 50 overs.

Tenterden also saw six batsmen dismissed for single- digit scores, but made their way to 202-7 thanks to Stickels’ 86 and Fattore’s unbeaten 53.
