Strugglers triumph in run chase

Bottom side Betteshang­er Colliery Welfare enjoyed a rare win at the weekend.

They beat Faversham by seven wickets after a successful run chase.

Hosts Faversham batted first and were bowled out for 189. Betteshang­er knocked the runs off in 42 overs.

Littlebour­ne’s game at Bexley 3rds was abandoned and the two sides claimed eight points apiece.

That gave Bromley Town the chance to extend the lead at the top, giving them a 30-point gap between the second placed side. Bromley claimed a 135-run victory over Offham. Batting first, they posted 291-5, with Adam Dicker smashing 81 and Henry Winchester 58 not out. Dicker then produced an impressive performanc­e with the ball, picking up 5-39 as Offham were bowled out for 156.

Opener Harry Legg was their top scorer, hitting five fours and a couple of sixes.

Hartley Country Club suffered a 22-run defeat against The Roebucks.

Stephen Bailes hit an unbeaten century for The Roebucks as they posted 243-6.

Hartley reached 221-7 off 50 overs in reply with Richard Nicol top scoring on 67. Earlier, he had picked up 3-45 with the ball.

Rodmersham beat Chislehurs­t & West Kent in a thrilling finale.

They had just one wicket and two balls remaining as they successful­ly chased down 199 against Chislehurs­t.

Hosts Rodmersham asked Chislehurs­t to bat and they were set a competitiv­e target. In reply, Rodmersham opener Kevin Jones made 49 but there was strength in the lower order too, as Adam Hodder (27 not out), batting at nine, and Jamie Rigden (14 not out) guided them home in a tense finish.
