Brews put paid to Green’s run

Brewmaster maintained their 100% start when they ended Premier Division title rivals Bromley Green’s unbeaten run winning 4-2 at Hopes Grove.

The Brews fell behind to Kieran Shrimpton’s goal after half-anhour but they were soon back on level terms when Ben SquiresQui­nn opened his goal account for the season.

Further goals from Gary Clarke and a second from SquiresQui­nn either side of half-time saw Brewmaster go 3-1 ahead, before Jordan Griffin’s fourth goal of the campaign brought Green back into the game.

The Brews sealed victory when Frank Godfrey struck with five minutes left on the clock.

Adam Ghidaoui scored four times in the second half as Nailbox beat fellow promoted side Lolzors 8-1 to record their first win.

Ben Kesby, Michael Gatrell, Taylor Phur and an own goal completed the tally with Matt Wright’s penalty the sole consolatio­n for the Pumas.

Mersham Sports ended Red Heathens’ 11-month unbeaten home league run as they returned from their trip to Charing Heath 2-0 winners.

The Heathens last tasted defeat on their home patch in October 2018 but were outdone by twogoal Craig Calvert as Mersham leapfrogge­d their hosts moving up into sixth place in the Premier Division standings.

The win was the first for the villagers since a 2-1 away victory at Brewmaster in November 2017.

Premier Division side Stanhope & Beaver Rangers proved too strong for brave Pilgrims Sunday running out 3- 0 winners to progress to the second round of the Charity Trophy.

Man- of- the- match Carlum Macleod starred as Kennington moved into the second round of the Bodkin Cup with a 5-1 away win at Division 1 side Aldington.

Macleod’s double included the opening goal after just two minutes and he then turned provider picking out teammate Tom Scorer who rounded James Sutton to make it 2-0.

Frankie Comparetto added a third before half-time and Macleod made it 4-0 early in the second period.

Adington pulled a goal back through top scorer Ryan Norman but Steve Johnson restored Kennington’s four goal advantage late on to seal a second- round home clash against last season’s runners up Brewmaster.

Last season’s Sheber Challenge Trophy runners-up Biddenden scraped through to the second round thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Division 3 side Aldington Reserves.

With the game tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes, both sides added another goal each in extra-time to set up an exciting shootout which the ‘Den eventually won 4-2 on spot kicks.

Harry Lambourn, George Large and Blake Crawley netted fro Biddenden, but Aldington’s second string hit back to level through Matthew Wooton (2) and one from Cameron Bruce.

Goalkeeper Jason Davis made the decisive save in the shootout.

Joe Spicer scored all three goals as Hamstreet set up a home second round clash against Bromley Green Reserves beating Ashford Spartans 3-1.

Spicer took his goal tally to five in two games for the Street equalling the amount he managed in two seasons for the villagers before their withdrawal from the league in 2017.

Singleton Barn eased through 8-0 against Kingsnorth Pilgrims.

Summer signing Bradley Freund scored another hat-trick to take his goal tally for the campaign to nine.

Two goals from skipper Paul Halliday and one each from Toby Bromley, Lewis Newcombe and Ricky Harden helped the pub side go through.

Andy Crouch scored his first two goals of the season as Burton Grove twice came from behind to beat Folkestone United Reserves 3-2. Jurgen Ahmetaj was the other marksman with Ashley Sales and Alan Reed scoring for Folkestone.

Mersham Sports Reserves continued their excellent start to the new season as they beat Charing Reserves 4- 0 in the second round of the Sheber Trophy.

Luke Goddard netted twice to take his tally for the season to six in three games, more than he has managed to score for the villagers in the past two seasons.
