French tests cause lorry queues
Queues of lorries have formed on the M20 several times in recent weeks, as Eurotunnel has seen long lines of trucks at its Folkestone terminal due to French authorities’ trials of post-Brexit processes.
Similar queues last week were said not to be related to Brexit, with operators GetLink instead putting the traffic down to a pre-Christmas rush.
Delays are said to be expected on the M20 from now until Christmas on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays - the normal peak days, exacerbated by increased seasonal shopping.
The Dover Traffic Assessment Project (TAP) has also been put in place in response to high volumes of traffic and potentially disrupting vehicle flow towards the port.
A pre-Brexit rush could also be playing a part, with less than a month to go before January 1, 2021, when Britain will officially leave the EU.
