Robinson and Cox agree contract extensions

-

Kent duo Ollie Robinson and Jordan Cox has signed new deals to keep them at the county until 2023. Robinson, who toured Australia with the England Lions at the start of

2020, has scored 1,361 runs in 47 matches to date across all formats, including his maiden first-class century of 143 at Edgbaston against Warwickshire in April 2019.

Robinson said: “I’m excited to see what the future holds for this fantastic group of players and I’m over the moon to extend my contract at my home county for at least another three years.

“I definitely feel that there is a trophy around the corner for us soon.

“Such is the strength of the squad here currently that all positions are up for grabs, and whilst I’m pleased that I’ve taken all the opportunities given to me so far, I can now knuckle-down and continue to improve my game.” Cox, 20, came to prominence earlier this year when he scored 238 not out against Sussex in the Bob Wills Trophy.

His stand of 423 with Jack Leaning at Canterbury set a new Kent record for a first-class partnership.

Cox said: “I’m really excited about the forward momentum of this club and I’m delighted to extend my contract at my home county.

“I’m working hard to keep improving my game and I know that Kent is the best place for me to be right now, amongst a brilliant group of players and coaches all working in unison.

This is just the beginning for me and I can’t wait to contribute further in a Kent shirt.”
