Our town boasts the ‘wow factor’

- Laura Lawrence

In my humble opinion, I believe our Ashford town centre already has the ‘wow factor’ and nothing really needs to be done there apart from positive reinforcement like anywhere else on our lovely green planet.

When I visited it at the weekend and during the week to do my Christmas shopping (and to buy a hot drink at one of our splendid cafes - even outside in the rain it was pleasant meeting with friends etc), I had a good time and felt refreshed, even happy afterwards!

We don’t need to ‘move’ the town centre (which would be hugely expensive and unnecessary) but we DO need a theatre in our high street (there is nothing intrinsically wrong with the former Mecca Bingo hall/formerly cinema).

Can we not help ABC and MP Damian Green by telling him exactly what we want? Instead of whinging about it, we could work together as a team with positive like-minded individuals, could we not?

Also, please can we continue to bring our own recycled cups to the cafes instead of buying ‘throwaway’ ones?

Please help me/us to enjoy what we already have instead of letting other people make decisions for us. We need to tell the powersthat-be what we want. Wishing you all a happy Christmas and an amazing new year!
