Columnist home after hospital stay

Express columnist Stuart Barton is recovering at home after a spell in hospital, during which he was diagnosed with Covid-19.

Stuart, from Ashford, has thanked the staff at the William Harvey Hospital for their care during his stay.

Writing about his experience this week, he says: “A doctor came and told me I had tested positive for Covid, though asymptomatic.

“A day later, my symptoms - shortness of breath, general weakness and a distorted sense of taste and smell appeared.”

He added: “On a one-to-ten scale of surly patients, I would probably have been placed very near the top.

“The reality is that I recognise the debt of gratitude I owe to the staff of the William Harvey.”
