Road closures planned as council plots improvements
The previous crash left Mr and Mrs Perkins with a £500,000 repair bill and, although the pub was well insured, this second crash has left the pair with more worries than just repairs.
“I don’t even know if we’ll be able to insure the pub after this,” Mrs Perkins explained.
“This could really be the death of our business.”
Little Chart parish councillor Alex Diebel says the council has been trying to address the speeding issue in the area for years.
He said: “The speeding in and out of Little Chart has been getting progressively worse and incidents keep happening.
“There seems to be a feeling of ‘well, nobody has died yet’ about the whole situation.
“Let me tell you, at the rate we are going, someone is going to die soon if we don’t do something about it.
“If someone had been sat on the toilet on Monday they wouldn’t be here any more!
“I believe KCC is working on something that involves painting the road to remind people of the speed limit, but I don’t think that will be enough.
“The idiots who speed around here will continue to do so unless we do something.”
A KCC spokesman confirmed it has been working with the parish council on a scheme for road safety improvements.
“We aim to deliver the scheme in late spring and will need to implement road closures to carry out the works,” he said.
“These include road markings, gateway treatments and some resurfacing.”
